A combustion leaf taken from the bottom of the tobacco plant.
Volado leaves come from the lowest primings of the plant. They have the least sunlight exposure and the lowest oil content, contributing combustion quality rather than flavour. A blend without enough volado will burn poorly and require frequent re-lighting.
