Measuring exactly 123 millimetres (4.84 inches) in length with a 40 ring gauge, it is a slender and relatively short parejo (straight-sided) format. This size was historically widespread across many brands but is now preserved in a select number of regular production Habanos, offering a concise and concentrated smoking experience.

Understanding the Standard Format

In Cuban cigar nomenclature, the vitola de galera is the precise factory name used on the rolling floor, whereas the vitola de salida is the commercial name printed on the box. Many brands use the vitola de salida "Petit Corona" for the Standard size, though it should not be confused with the slightly larger Mareva, which also frequently shares the Petit Corona commercial name.

With its 40 ring gauge, the Standard offers a tight draw that directs the smoke onto the palate in a concentrated stream. The thinner wrapper-to-filler ratio dictates that the wrapper leaf contributes significantly to the overall flavour profile of the cigar.
