The Secretos is a compact Havana cigar format measuring 110 mm by a 40 ring gauge, traditionally categorised under the common name of Petit Corona. In Cuban cigar manufacturing, the vitola de galera (factory name) dictates the exact physical dimensions, whereas the vitola de salida is the commercial name printed on the box.

As a *parejo* (straight-sided) shape, the Secretos maintains a consistent 40 ring gauge (15.87 mm diameter) throughout its 110 mm (4 3/8 inches) length. This narrower gauge means the wrapper leaf contributes a higher proportion of the overall flavour compared to a thicker format. Consequently, the blender must carefully balance the filler leaves to ensure an even draw and a clear expression of the brand's profile.
When stored correctly under English Market Selection (EMS) conditions, a Secretos provides a firm but smooth draw. The burn time typically ranges from thirty to forty minutes. Due to its short length, the transition between thirds happens rapidly, delivering an intense and focused progression.

Currently, two active, regular production Habanos utilise the Secretos vitola de galera. The Cohiba Secretos, released in 2007 as part of the Maduro 5 line, is arguably the most famous, distinguished by wrapper leaves aged for five years prior to rolling. Three years earlier, in 2004, the Trinidad Reyes was introduced, providing a classic example known for its consistent construction and traditional Trinidad blend.
Buying and ageing
When purchasing cigars in the Secretos format, always verify the box code to confirm the factory and date of production. Because of the 40 ring gauge, these cigars can be susceptible to tight draws if kept in overly humid conditions; a precise 65% relative humidity is advisable.
Smaller formats like the Secretos do not require decades to reach their peak. Three to five years of careful box ageing will usually round off any sharp edges in the youthful tobacco.
