Accessible through a gate inscribed "Hoyo de Monterrey. Jose Gener. 1960." on the main square, this plantation is situated in a low-lying position along the San Juan y Martinez river, as indicated by the term "Hoyo," meaning "hole." Founded by Jose Gener, a Spaniard from Tarragona, in 1865, the Hoyo de Monterrey brand carries the legacy of its vega's name.
