MokaVerify
MokaVerify is MokaCigar’s free, photo-based authenticity check for Cuban cigars bought anywhere. You upload photographs of the bands, the Habanos warranty seal and the box codes, and a member of the MokaCigar team reviews them and writes the verdict by hand.
How it works
- Sign in or create a free account, then open MokaVerify in your profile.
- Upload up to six clear photographs: a band, the warranty seal (hologram and barcode visible), the underside of the box with the factory and date codes, and the open box.
- Add notes on where, when and for how much you bought it.
- The team compares your photographs with Habanos seal, band and box-code references and the house’s own reference collection.
- You receive a written verdict in your account.
The four verdicts
- Likely authentic
- Everything visible matches a genuine box of that brand, vitola and date.
- Inconclusive
- The photographs do not show enough, or details conflict. The box should be examined in person.
- Suspicious
- One or more features do not match what a genuine box should show.
- High risk
- Several features point to a counterfeit or a genuine box refilled with other cigars.
An opinion, not a certificate. MokaVerify is an expert reading of photographs. It is not a legal certification or a guarantee of authenticity.
Questions about MokaVerify
What is MokaVerify?
MokaVerify is MokaCigar’s photo-based authenticity check for Cuban cigars. You upload photographs of a box you own (the bands, the Habanos warranty seal and the codes stamped on the underside) and a member of the MokaCigar team reviews them and writes a verdict by hand.
Is MokaVerify free?
Yes. MokaVerify is free for anyone with a registered MokaCigar account, whether or not they are an Inner Circle member.
Can MokaVerify check cigars I bought somewhere else?
Yes. MokaVerify is designed for boxes bought anywhere: from another shop, at auction, privately or on holiday in Cuba.
What photos do I need to send?
Up to six clear photographs: the band on a cigar, the warranty seal (including the hologram and barcode), the underside of the box with the factory and date codes, and the open box showing the cigars. Add any notes on where and when you bought it.
What verdicts can MokaVerify give?
Each check returns one of four written verdicts: Likely authentic, Inconclusive, Suspicious or High risk, with the reasons behind it.
Is a MokaVerify verdict a legal certificate?
No. MokaVerify is an expert opinion based on photographs, not a legal certification or a guarantee. Photographs cannot show everything; an inconclusive result means the box should be examined in person.
